Long-Term Substitute: Middle School Math and Science

March 2019 - June 2020

Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the learning procedure in the direction of accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals as implied in the lesson plans for projects, lessons or units assigned

  • Make use of instructional procedures and materials which are most suitable for attaining lesson goals

  • Go through the attendance according to the procedures of the school

  • Ensure an orderly and tidy classroom and may need to keep tables and chairs well arranged and clear of the chalkboard

  • Adhere to all procedures, guidelines, and policies followed by regular teachers in line with recommended teaching procedure

  • Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite and refined manner.

Skills, Abilities, and other Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students

  • High school diploma and bachelor's degree

  • Ability to comply with written and or oral instructions

  • Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel

  • Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills

  • Willingness to stand for most hours of the day or sit for extensive periods of time

  • Close and personal relationship with pupils on a daily basis

  • Full capability to give instructions while the regular teacher is absent. 


After School Program - Hourly Staff Member

Duties:

  • Work with the After School Program Coordinator to plan programming and daily activities

  • Supervise students during indoor and/or outdoor play

  • Tutor students with homework

  • Assist with providing students school meal and with the clean-up of meals

  • Implement activities in the After School Program, daily 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM

  • Implement discipline and reward for the After School Program as directed by After School Program Coordinator

  • Communication with families as needed

  • Inform After School Program Coordinator in writing of absences more than 24 hours in advance; Inform the After School Coordinator and the Office Manager in writing of absences less than 24 hours in advance

Qualifications:

  • Experience with students of a variety of ages

  • Dependable work record

  • Effective communication skills

Compensation: $10.00 -$12.00 per hour (3:00pm-5:30pm)

Start Date: Training during the week of August 19-August 23. First Day of After School Program - August 26, 2019

End Date: June 1, 2020
