Academics at St. Stephens Episcopal School

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

Our School Day

Our day begins at 8:15 am for all classes.  Parents may drop off as early as 7:30 am.  Students will report to an area of the school by grade from 7:30 am – 8:00 am under the supervision of a teacher.  At 8:00 am all students report to their homeroom class.  A teacher is on duty outside of the school from 7:45 am – 8:15 am to help facilitate drop off of students.  Before 7:45 am you must either escort your child into the school or wait in the car to ensure your child enters the school safely.

Bus students begin their dismissal at 2:55 pm.  Students being picked up by car begin dismissal at 3:10 pm.  Parents should not arrive for car pickup until after 3:10 pm so that the buses are able to get out in time.  Students for car pickup will be called one by one as the parent or authorized person arrives.  Teachers will be present on Cranberry Street to help students into the car.  Any changes in dismissal should be sent in writing to the school office.  Verbal changes in dismissal by students are not accepted.

Lunch for Preschool and PreKindergarten begins at 11:30 am.  Kindergarten through 2nd Grade lunch also begins at 11:30 and ends at 11:55 am.  3rd through 5th grade lunch is from 12:00 pm – 12:20 pm.  Middle school lunch begins at 12:25 pm and ends are 12:45 pm.  Students must pack a lunch each day.

St. Stephen’s does not require a uniform, but guidelines for acceptable dress are outlined in the parent/student handbook which can be found online.

All classes participate in Chapel once a week and specials depending upon their grade level which may include Spanish, Music, Religion, Art, Computer, Gym and Swimming.

Extra activities funded by the Home and School Association have included movie nights, fundraisers and the scholastic book fair.  Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade also participate in an environmental education trip each year (see information here: Informational Brochure).  Other activities include music programs such as our annual Advent Program, Spring Program and School Play.

Accreditation
St. Stephen’s Episcopal School is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Schools. Our school is a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools.

The School
St. Stephen’s Episcopal School was founded in 1978 as an outreach and mission of the Cathedral Church of St. Stephen. Forty percent of our students receive some financial assistance.

out of the classroom, including overnight trips for the
older students to Pine Grove Furnace State Park, South
Mountain or Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center
